Off the front porch you'll find you are just a few feet away from the South Fork Stickney Creek.  While this creek does not flow year round, during the run-off in the spring, the creek runs strong.  The owners have caught brook and rainbow trout from their property.  

If you want to fish some bigger water, Craig Montana and the Missouri River are only a few miles away.  The Missouri River is one of Montana's Blue Ribbon Trout Streams, a designation by the United States government and other authorities to identify recreational fisheries of extremely high quality.  The section of the Missouri River from Wolfcreek to Craig and beyond is world renowned, with over 6000 rainbow trout and 500 brown trout of catchable trout per mile, anglers from all over the globe travel here each year in hopes of catching their trophy fish.  

Secluded Off-Grid Home

The cabin is wired and serviced by a simple solar set-up and heat comes from both propane and a wood burning stove.  The range is propane and the fridge is propane or electric.  The house has been plumbed and the well drilled, however the well has not been connected to the house yet.  All piping has been purchased to bring water to the house and will transfer with the sale.  The well house has the surge tank, storage and a shower-built in with an on-demand water heater.

Craig Montana

Craig is a small Montana Community, located on the banks of the Missouri River in Lewis and Clark County between Helena and Great Falls.  The roughly 40 residents of Craig operate several fly-fishing shops and guide services as well as a couple places to grab a bite to eat.  Fishing tourism is what keeps this town going, on the best fishing days, parking in town and at the nearest fishing access points gets full quick.  

If hunting is your thing, Craig sits in the Beartooth range of the Rocky Mountains and there is thousands of acres of public land available to hunt on including the Beartooth Wildlife Management Area.  You will find all of Montana's Big Game near Craig.

Helena Montana

Just 30+ minutes to the south of Craig is Montana's Capital City, Helena.  Helena was founded during a gold rush in late 1864.  The Cathedral of Saint Helena was modeled after the Votivkirchein in Vienna Austira and is a stunning piece of architecture that is a must-see when visiting.  Other great architecture to visit is the Montana State Capitol building and the Helena Civic Center, formerly the Algeria Shrine Temple.  Helena is a town rich with history.  You can take a tour of the Original Governor's Mansion, visit the Montana Military Museum, take a short trip over to Elkhorn Ghost Town, or check out the Lewis & Clark interpretive experience.  There are several art museums and galleries to enjoy as well as theaters, the Helena Walking Mall, and many other points of inererst.  Don't forget to spend some time on a walking tour of the Mansion District and learn about some amazing history.  Also check out the Great Northern Town Center with many retail shops, carosel, movie theater, science museum and much more. 

Helena is a wonderful place to start your outdoor adventure, there are hundreds of miles of biking and hiking trails around and many of them start downtown.  Spend some time on Canyon Ferry Lake enjoying the beautiful Montana Scenery or head out to fish several Blue-Ribbon Trout Streams just short drives away.  Head up to Great Divide Ski Area just northwest of town for your winter sports get away.
